Future Bingham

Bandstand in Bingham

Bingham is an important rural centre. People are attracted to the town as a place to live and work. Surrounding communities also rely on the town's shops, medical facilities and other services.

One of the biggest challenges facing the town is maintaining a buoyant and vibrant local economy. Looking to the future, people will be seeking local jobs, homes and facilities.

How and where will growth be accommodated - and importantly how can this be best planned to benefit the community? We have discussed this question with your local councillors, and their comments have helped to inform our proposals.

Bingham is surrounded to the west and south by greenbelt land which excludes development. However, to the north, significant pockets of activity exist around Butt Fields and Chapel Lane. Much of this land already has planning permission for employment related developments - such as offices, warehouses and factories.

The Crown Estate believes that some of its land already permitted for employment could be used differently. The location has a number of factors that make it well suited for a new residential neighbourhood including:

  • Land has already been earmarked for development.
  • Opportunities provided by both the new dualled A46 and the 'old' road.
  • Positive features such as Car Dyke, Parson's Hill and Butt Field.
  • Easy links to existing transport and road networks.
